Christmas Poem for Couples Getting Married

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The ring it was wrappedin a box by the tree. And soon he would surelybe down on one knee. The couple awoke, with a kiss and a cuddle. The boyfriend was nervous, his mind was a muddle. They headed downstairsand she opened his giftHe started to twitch, and he started to shift. As she opened the boxand she spotted the ring“I do!” she did cry,“I do!” she did sing. Her happiness soon thoughturned into despair,“Oh who’ll do my makeup, and who’ll do my hair!?” She sat there in silence, but wasn’t

Sailing Photography

I have done a few jobs with RS Sailing over the years, they make awesome sailing boats in the UK and send them all over the world, making boats for all levels and prices Normally sailing photos are like this; quite tight angles.. Jo Richards, designer on board plus top team from RS Sailing and but I like to get in close too with wide angle lenses and capture the vibe of the day like this, makes it seem more of an adventure some how, ‘the great blue yonder‘ and all that.. Bouncing around in RIBs all day is tiring

New approach to advertising GO LOCAL (or go home!)

Decided to go with local advertising for now, as I hope that the idea of supporting familiar businesses in these stressful times makes sense Also we’ve lived in Ashley Cross for 27 years! And we love the vibe of the area with its independent shops and businesses This is a 4,000 distribution local Business and Community Magazine and I like the look of what they do and how they go about their business. Harriet is super friendly and helpful so I am hoping for good results Look out for my editorial ‘info-rant’ in January issue

Good Lenses

Any serious photographer loves their lenses. If they don’t love them they shouldn’t have them. They look and feel beautiful and most importantly they can capture the sort of images that ordinary lenses can’t. Its all about the ‘Bokeh’ (google it..). Only top notch (and expensive) lenses can give a creamy out-of-focus background. Look for lenses with f 1.2 or 1.4 maximum aperture. Getting nerdy again, sorry ps I love loudspeakers too, kind of similar shapes and all about waves

The Flex Wedding Photography Package

I have been thinking about this a lot over the last few months of very restricted or cancelled weddings due to Covid-19 For 2021 I am going to offer a wedding package with a big difference, based on a simple principle You only pay for the photography you get So if either your circumstances change or there are restrictions on the wedding arrangements, you will only pay for the photographic coverage you get. I’m calling it the Flex Wedding Photography Package. The intention is to take the worry of the unknown out of the equation Think about the two extremes

Windy November Watersports

Few very breezy days and a chance to get on the water and take some photos too. Branksome Chine and Kimmeridge Bay, two of my favourite locations and great to see the windsurfers and kitesurfers performing for the big white lenses! Starring; Tim, Ben, Russ, Sam, Dave and of course Timo. Fanatic Ultra Grip, Duotone Super Hero. JP Radical Wave Fana “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” seems very pertinent at the moment

Mirrorless Cameras

Here’s a nerdy one… A few years ago top quality cameras appeared that allow you to see preview the photo you’re about to take….Sony started it. Seems trivial but DSLRs can’t do this….So I’m going to make the jump to the Canon R system, with my existing incredible lens collection. This will allow me to work (even) quicker and perhaps be (even) more creative. Also (even) better auto focus and video (enough of the (even))
